Montana, known as Big Sky Country, has something to please everyone and
great western hospitality is alive and well at Montana hotels and
attractions. From the wondrous Yellowstone to the majestic Glacier, Montana's National Parks inspire and astound.
Taking in everything that these parks have to offer is something that
you'll never forget. Think of Montana as a giant, natural animal preserve
with a greater variety of wildlife than any other state in the lower 48.
In Glacier, you may see elk, moose and deer foraging or mountain goats and
bighorn sheep pawing for lichens and grasses or from a safe distance you
may view a black or grizzly bear in their natural setting. In Yellowstone,
you'll find wildlife species as diverse as trumpeter swans, grizzly bear,
elk, bison, wolves and many others.

Great Falls is Montana's second largest city, located on the Missouri River among the five water falls that were both a magnificent spectacle and formidable barrier to early river travel. This area held great significance for the Lewis and Clark Expedition. The explorers were forced to spend nearly a month portaging around the falls in June of 1805.Much of the Missouri River in this area remains as it was when Lewis and Clark first viewed it 190 years ago. The "Great Falls" of the Missouri is now the site of Ryan Dam, one of the five dams built on the Missouri River producing electrical power for much of the region, making Great Falls a vital energy supplier to Cascade County.Great Falls was also the home of cowboy artist Charlie Russell (1864-1926) whose original home and log studio are now part of the C.M. Russell Complex. The city of Great Falls is both an educational and medical center for northwest Montana and is a market center for much of the area's agricultural produce. Malmstrom Air Force Base, outside of Great Falls, is the home of the award winning 341st Missile Wing. Both play an important role in the nation's defense.
